Pilates is a popular body conditioning method promoting good posture, muscle strength and flexibility based on the original six principles of concentration, control, centre, flow, precision, and breathing.

Class description: Classes comprise of non-impact challenging exercises which help to develop and improve body posture and inner central strength. Pilates exercises target your core muscles which help stabilise the body.

Pilates one-to-one sessions are also available at £35. Please contact Charlotte on the telephone or by email before attending any classes to avoid disappointment of arriving at class and not being able to take part.

Even as a young child I was into sports and physical activities, from there I then became very interested in gymnastics and after 16 years I am still involved with coaching at the local club. From teaching gymnastics I developed a further interest in teaching fitness as a profession.

I have over 12 years teaching fitness classes and personal fitness to a wide range of people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. I love what I do, it is fun and I enjoy immensely the feedback from my clients on how the result that my clients can see improves their well being and quality of life.

23rd Jan 2013 – New Evening Classes Announcement

I am very pleased to announce that an evening venue has now been secured. I will be running classes on a Wednesday evening from the Preston Schoolroom, situated in the Churchyard of St Catherine’s Church, Preston Lane, Faversham, Kent ME13 8LG.
 
Class start running as of Wednesday 30th January.

Times/Classes are as follows:-

6.30pm-7.15pm – Legs, Bums and Tums, plus a bit if arms

7.30pm-8.20pm – Pilates

The cost for each class is £5.00.

I am considering a male only class starting at 8.30pm, however, this is subject to receiving enough interest.

I am happy to teach a mixed class and would like to see more men attending my classes and for the time being should any men attend either of the classes it will be taught as a mixed class.

I will be running the classes for a trial period of approximately 8 weeks and providing there are enough participants, the classes will remain in situ.

21st Jan 2013 – What is Pilates?

I have come across a lot of people who have heard of Pilates but are not always aware of the principals behind this form of exercise.

Since Pilates hit the scene many years ago there are now many classes/exercises aimed at building core strength.

Pilates follows 6 principals (these are the principals my qualification is based around):-

1. Centering

Physically bringing the focus to the centre of the body, the powerhouse area between the lower ribs and the pubic bone. Pilates exercises should be sourced from our centre.

2. Concentration

If one brings full attention to the exercise and does it with full commitment, maximum value will be obtained from each movement. This starts the mind and body connection within Pilates.

3. Control

Every Pilates exercise is done with complete muscular control. No body part is left to its own devices.

4. Precision

In Pilates awareness is sustained throughout each movement. There is an appropriate placement, alignment relative to other body parts and trajectory for each body part.

5. Breath

Joseph Pilates emphasized using a very full breath in his exercises. He advocated thinking of the lungs as bellows – using them strongly to pump the air fully in and out of the body. Most Pilates exercises coordinate with the breath and using the breath properly is an intergral part of Pilates.

6. Flow

Pilates exercise is done in a flowing manner. Fluidity, grace and ease are goals applied to all exercises. The energy of an exercise connects all body parts and flows through the body in an even way.

12th Jan 2013 – Website Launch Party

What a fantastic evening at my Launch party last night and my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended. I was totally overwhelmed at the response and very grateful for the support from friends and clients who came along to the West Faversham Community Centre.
As well as announcing my promotional incentives for regular attendance to classes, I gave a little demonstration with a balloon to reveal how we balance which was fun and everyone enjoyed a little taster of Pilates. The food, wine and raffle went down a treat with my friend commented on having a lucking number 7 raffle ticket and blow me down it really was lucky as Stacey won a prize.

Following feedback from the evening there appears to be a lot of interest for an evening class and I am currently looking for a venue on a Wednesday evening. I am also considering a men only class.
